Wrinkle Treatments

By Anne Fennell

Cosmetic treatments have advanced tremendously in the recent years, particularly when it comes to the treatment for facial wrinkles. When one has wrinkles on their face, the nature of the world today looks at them like they are "older", and such a big value is placed on a youthful looking face.

But what do wrinkle treatments involve? There are a lot of choices in where to receive these procedures, but what should a person know when considering treatment? Below, we will look further into what these processes entail for wrinkle treatments.

What goes along with receiving wrinkle treatments?

Our skin is constantly exposed to a number of toxic substances such as automobile fumes, smoke and even the warming rays of the sun, all of which can damage the skin. This damage can result in the formation of fine lines on the skin called wrinkles, which can be cosmetically unpleasant to look at, especially if there are too many.

Removing wrinkles is achieved by using botulinum toxin, as it is an effective wrinkle treatment. To remove lines, all kinds of things are considered, basic skin cream of course, laser treatments, and chemical peels are also performed. The popularity of botox treatments is gaining ground quickly, despite the other options available. There are those who use less effective products such as anti-wrinkle creams that have expensive ad campaigns backing them.

What treatments make the most difference?

Unfortunately there is no clear answer to this question. Facial wrinkles respond differently to different treatments in different patients, so it is hard to say which one would work the best. The effectiveness of treatments using botox injections or other dermal fillers is well known, so more and more people appear to be choosing this method.

For how much time will a patient benefit from treatments?

This depends on the type of treatment patients decide to have. The limited effects of a product like a skin cream will last for a brief period, but generally it isn't all that effective even when used frequently. The effects of dermal fillers such as botox treatments last for months, as these methods are superior.

Cost and cost efficiency

Treatment of facial wrinkles is not cheap. Advanced techniques such as dermal fillers, skin rejuvenation methods and botox injections can cost anywhere from $300 to $3000 (or even more) depending on the person that is performing the procedure. Creams are obviously a lot cheaper but require more regular application, meaning they need to be purchased a lot more often. After a period of time, the proper cost of treatments and the results obtained can be measured more accurately. Botox and other dermal fillers are beginning to look like the most practical and cost effective treatment for facial wrinkles, over time. There are also some doctors who make the claim that the most economical means of reducing wrinkles is by CO2 laser.

The healing process following treatments

Skin creams for wrinkles have no downtime whatsoever. Of all the treatments on the market, microdermabrasion is looking to be the most speedy recovery when treating wrinkles. Having said that, this does not make microdermabrasion the best treatment as multiple treatments are required that can be rather uncomfortable to the patient.

Summary

A wide variety of treatments exist when it comes to facial wrinkle reduction processes. Each of them has their own upsides and downsides. Patients should take all of these things into careful consideration, including looking at the provider's credentials and experience, the price, and which treatments they feel they can handle best.

  1. Wrinkles are part of the natural ageing process. They appear on areas of your skin such as face, neck, back of hands and upper arms etc. You can delay getting wrinkles by protecting your skin in the sun.
